Licca Ng - “With a non technical background, I am proud to have grown my career in terminal operations through persistence, learning, and HIT’s supportive environment.”
When I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree, I thought my academic background was seemingly unrelated to the container terminal business. However, HIT offered me the opportunity to explore and grow in this entirely new field. Since joining the company, my colleagues and team have always been supportive, helping me adapt to the new environment and learn along the way. Through this journey, I have come to understand that HIT truly values potential and commitment, and that people from diverse academic backgrounds can also thrive here.
The container terminal industry is often perceived as male‑dominated, but my experience at HIT has shown me otherwise. Here, I am entrusted with important responsibilities and able to make meaningful contributions to operations. HIT’s inclusive culture ensures that effort and ability are recognised, and being part of such a supportive team is truly encouraging.
Container terminal operations are complex and dynamic, with new challenges and learning opportunities every day. The company’s strong emphasis on employee development motivates me to keep learning and to build up my professional capabilities step by step. I look forward to continuing my journey with HIT, gaining more experience, and contributing to the company’s future development.

Sky Sin - “Receiving the Young Professional Award motivates me to keep learning, improving, and contributing to the future of terminal operations.”
Upon my graduation, I joined HIT as an Operations Management Trainee, marking the beginning of my career in the container terminal sector.
Looking back, I am truly grateful for the opportunities and guidance given to me from the very start. Rotating through different operational sections during my trainee programme allowed me to gain hands-on experience and build a solid foundation in terminal operations. The mentorship and unwavering support I received throughout the journey greatly accelerated my personal and professional growth, enabling me to navigate complex situations with confidence, adapt quickly to the ever-changing business landscape, and gain clarity on the career path I hope to pursue within this industry.
After completing the two‑year programme, I was assigned to the Process Excellence Team, focusing on terminal planning and development. Since then, I have had the privilege of contributing to several automation and innovation initiatives, including the Autonomous Truck Project and the adoption of the remote container inspection system. These projects have certainly been challenging, but they have also been deeply meaningful to me, especially knowing that our efforts are helping to shape a smarter, greener, and better future for the terminal.
This journey also brought me the honour of receiving the Young Professional Award at the Hong Kong’s NextGen Logistician Awards, an accolade that recognises and encourages young talent within the logistics industry. I see this recognition not only as a personal achievement, but also as a reflection of the mentorship, teamwork, and support I have been fortunate to receive throughout my journey at HIT.
Looking ahead, I will continue to stay humble and motivated as I keep growing, improving, and contributing to HIT and the Hong Kong logistics industry.

Hei Man Ho - “My journey across HIT has given me invaluable technical depth, global exposure, and the confidence to grow as an engineering professional.”
Looking back at the early days of my career, I began my engineering journey in HIT’s Crane Maintenance team. At the time, the team was managing 24 previous‑generation automated Rail‑mounted Gantry Cranes (RMGCs) while simultaneously launching a commissioning project for three brand‑new units. For a fresh graduate trainee in Electronic Engineering, this was an exceptionally inspiring starting point. Within a short period, I was exposed to industrial automation, control programming, mechanical and electrical engineering, industrial communication technologies, and many other areas, allowing me to quickly establish a solid engineering foundation.
Later, I was assigned to Yantian, one of the major container terminal hubs in South China — an experience that remains deeply memorable to me. Moving to a new city during the COVID‑19 border closures was both exciting and challenging. Adapting to a new work environment and an entirely different living arrangement was not easy at first. Fortunately, I was surrounded by warm and supportive colleagues who made it possible for me to contribute confidently and fully utilise my strengths. During this period, I not only engaged in in‑depth technical exchanges but also made significant progress in communication, collaboration, and cross‑cultural teamwork.
The most challenging chapter was my overseas assignment to a newly constructed terminal in Saudi Arabia. The mission focused on establishing an end‑to‑end operational structure for the new terminal, requiring my involvement in everything from technical execution to management planning. What stood out most was the trust and synergy built within our team — a group of engineers from all over the world with diverse areas of expertise. The mutual support and seamless teamwork became one of my most valuable professional experiences to date. The technical exchanges and cultural interactions profoundly broadened my perspective and strengthened my capabilities.
Now that I am back in Hong Kong, I carry with me all the experiences accumulated across different locations. Whether in technical advancement, international collaboration, or the mindset to face challenges, these journeys have become the most precious assets of my career. Every assignment and every project has pointed me toward a clearer direction for my future in engineering.

Wong Wing Kwai - “From an intern to leading engineering teams across borders, each challenge has shaped me into the professional I am today.”
My journey with HIT began during my university internship, which was my first real exposure to engineering projects and to a highly collaborative team culture. After graduating, I was fortunate to join HIT as an Engineering Trainee, eager to learn from colleagues of different professional backgrounds and gradually discover my own path in the engineering field.
Throughout this journey, I have gained many unforgettable and inspiring experiences. One of the most pivotal milestones was my overseas assignment to the Business Unit in Saudi Arabia. There, I was responsible for establishing and leading a multinational engineering team to support the start‑up of a new terminal. My scope of work was wide‑ranging: setting up brand‑new operational and maintenance systems, planning and managing capital and operating budgets, and coordinating the unloading, installation, and commissioning of new remote‑operated equipment.
Beyond the technical challenges, what mattered even more was learning how to build trust and maintain alignment among professionals from diverse backgrounds — including international engineering experts, suppliers, and even local government departments. Cross‑cultural collaboration was not always easy, but it was incredibly rewarding. The professional relationships built during this period remain strong to this day.
Now back in Hong Kong, I continue to lead an engineering team while embracing new challenges ahead. My passion for engineering, teamwork, and continuous learning has only grown stronger. I look forward to further pushing my own boundaries and contributing to the company’s long‑term development.
