Collection Procedures of Hanjin Containers
Hanjin Shipping announced that it filed for receivership at the district court in Seoul on 31 August 2016. Without delay, Hongkong International Terminals Limited (HIT) had set up a dedicated team to provide emergency services and offer assistance to affected parties to make alternative carriage arrangements.

Empty Deposit, Handling Charge and Storage Charge will apply for any collection of Hanjin containers.
Empty Deposit is required for collection of Hanjin containers.
- Upon return of empty containers within 7 days from collection, please fax the equipment interchange receipt (EIR) and the empty deposit document to fax no. 3167 4935. - HIT will fully refund the empty deposit within 7 working days after the mentioned documents are received. - HIT Finance Department (HIT FIN) will inform customers once cheques are ready for pickup. Customers will then have to bring along the EIR, original empty deposit document and company chop to HIT FIN to collect cheques. For empty containers not returned to HIT within 7 days, please contact HIT FIN for settlement of extra detention for late return of empty containers. Charge applicable is same as Storage Charge as set out below.
Locations for return of empty containers
Between 0801 – 2259 hours : Depot 5
Between 2300 – 0800 hours : HIT 6
Storage Charge will be charged from container in-yard date up to container pickup date, and as well extra detention for late return of empty containers after 7 days from collection. Should containers remain uncollected after the initial container pickup date as notified, additional Storage Charge will also apply.

Payment method:
- Bank draft or cheque payable to Hongkong International Terminals Limited shall be delivered in person - For bank draft or cheque received on or before 1600 hours, respective containers will be available for pickup after 1500 hours on the next working day
This emergency service will end on 30 September 2016, further review on the procedures and terms will take place in due course.
